Which Cars Are Made in Canada?

With recent tariff changes impacting vehicle pricing, there’s never been a better time to explore cars built right here at home. Canadian-made vehicles aren’t just a source of national pride—they're also a smart choice for value, availability, and long-term support. At iRide Auto Financing, we’re seeing a growing interest in models manufactured on Canadian soil, and it’s easy to see why.

Toyota’s Ontario Powerhouses

Toyota’s Canadian operations are a force, with two major plants in Ontario. The Cambridge facility produces the Toyota RAV4 and Lexus RX, while the Woodstock plant is dedicated solely to the RAV4. These models are consistent top-sellers for good reason: they combine reliability with efficiency and practicality. The Lexus NX is also assembled here, adding luxury appeal to the mix. Just note that plug-in hybrid versions of these models still come from Japan.

Honda’s Winning Formula

Honda fans take note—the Civic and CR-V are both made in Alliston, Ontario. The Civic, often called Canada’s favourite car, has built a reputation for long-term value and low ownership costs. The CR-V, a compact SUV loved by families, offers that same Honda dependability in a roomier package.

GM Keeps It Moving

General Motors has three busy plants in Ontario. In Ingersoll, the CAMI Assembly focuses on the Chevrolet BrightDrop van, a rising star in the EV commercial world. Over in Oshawa, it’s all about the Chevrolet Silverado—one of Canada’s favourite pickups. In St. Catharines, GM builds the powerful V8 engines and dual-clutch transmissions found in high-performance models like the Corvette.

Stellantis: Past and Future Icons

The Chrysler Pacifica and new-generation Dodge Charger are born at the Windsor Assembly plant. Both vehicles serve very different drivers, but they share Canadian roots. Meanwhile, the Brampton Assembly—longtime home to the Dodge Challenger, Charger, and Chrysler 300—is shifting gears. Soon, it will be producing the next-generation Jeep Compass, ensuring Canada stays at the heart of Jeep’s SUV story.

Ford’s Big Plans

While Ford’s Oakville Assembly is currently in transition, it’s worth watching. Set to begin production of Super Duty trucks by 2026, this plant represents the future of Canadian manufacturing for hard-working vehicles. These trucks are often the go-to for towing, hauling, and job site reliability.

Why Canadian-Made Just Makes Sense

Buying a vehicle made in Canada means shorter shipping times, better parts availability, and often stronger resale value due to local familiarity. In a world where tariffs and international supply chain delays are becoming the norm, going local is more appealing than ever. Plus, it supports thousands of Canadian jobs and a network of suppliers right in our own backyard.
